Professor Amagai is the Professor and Chair of the Department
of Dermatology at the Keio University School of Medicine in
Tokyo, Japan. He is a distinguished medical researcher and
scientist whose major research interest is diseases of cutaneous
autoimmunity, most specifically the clarification of the immunopathological
mechanisms of the autoimmune skin disease, pemphigus, and
development of disease-specific therapeutic approaches. He
is the recipient of many distinguished awards and participates
on the editorial board of many international medical dermatology
journals.
